Diary of a Digital Embroidery
I've set up this blog to chart my progress as I sew out the patterns I have created for the digital embroidery machine. I've been working on the patterns for the past 6 months and am now at the stage of pulling it all together and sewing onto the final piece. It measures 64" x 51" approximately and it is to be exhibited in The Lighthouse Gallery, Glasgow, from 26th May till 4th June - and I just can't wait to see it up on the big wall!

Picture of Tree
Just put a new picture of the wall panel up. Not a very good one, but you can see the progress.
Off to start placing all the other elements now.

The Tree is Finished! The Frame is Ordered!
At last! The Tree That Never Grew is finished!
This is the biggest element of my wall panel and it is HUGE! This is where all the shoes will hang once I have the Glasgow Crest and the other elements sewed onto the fabric. My shoes are awesome! I can't wait to get to the stage where they're being sewed - it means I'm just about finished.
I visited the framer on Friday and ordered a stretcher frame for my work. Because of the heavy embroidery, the fabric is beginning to pull, so it will have to be stretched. If there is time, I will ask the framer to stretch it, but it looks like I'm going to have to do it myself - we'll see.
I'll keep you posted - and maybe put up another picture with the finished tree.

p.s. I finished it around 8pm tonight - Started and 8.30am this morning and worked on it all day yesterday - had a meeting in Uni on Friday, so I lost a day. Time-consuming business, this embroidery lark! :D

Digital Renaissance - Our Graduate Show Website
I'd really love to share our website with everybody. www.digitalrenaissance.org.uk is where all my fellow graduates have posted their portfolios in the run-up to our Graduate Show on 26th May - 4th June 2011 at the superb venue of The Lighthouse, Gallery 1, Mitchell Street, Glasgow.
They (and I) are updating the website on a regular basis with blogs, pictures, videos and more and would be really happy to invite everyone to keep up-to-date with our progress.
This is a really exciting time for us - the end of 4 years of hard slog - and we are looking forward to sharing our work with everyone!
So, please visit our website and support some fantastic Digital Art Practitioners at www.digitalrenaissance.org.uk.
Cheers,
